The story is going around that there was a Moetzes meeting where they wanted to write a letter against voting.

Reb Shmuel would not sign unless they removed much of the zealous language.

The participants were shocked at his clarity of mind. Maybe they also began to believe blog comments that Reb Shmuel is controlled by others. But they were astounded at how sharp he was.

Where did you hear this?

R Shmuel is close to Pesach Lerner I'm guessing.

A lot of the kannoim don't recall how Pesach Lerner singlehandedly stopped the spread of women Rabbis in Young Israel which caused him a lot of agmas Nefesh and not a few lawsuits. Perhaps T Shmuel remembers.

Where did you hear this?

Now that would be telling.

But I heard it from someone who is close to many Talmidei Chachamim, and should know what he is talking about.

That doesn't mean it is true, and I wouldn't bet anything on it. It is a good story, perfect for a blog comment.

What, this post? Pm me. As far as Pesach Lerner and woman Rabbis, Google will help you with that. You can find a lot of OO blogs back then fuming at him and even a shul that sued him.

Look at you reporting breaking news!

I'm a little ignorant on the subject and the tzdadim. Can I bother you to summarize the two sides with the basic pros and cons?

Or link an article that explains it...

Look at my last post links, especially the one titled booklet for the cons. For the pros, look at Eretz haKodess website.

Of course. Eretz hakodesh has given money to many chareidi yeshivos. That's why the main proponents are R Yitzchok berkowitz and other American RY in Israel

No surprise. It's all about a power struggle between Peleg and everyone else. Malkiel = Peleg, hence Lakewood = Peleg, hence Peleg + Lakewood has now overtaken American Agudah.

Goodbye Rav Shmuel and the relative moderates ( Rav Lopiansky, Rav Brudny) , who have now been purged.

I should have said Malkiel + Elya Ber (Peleg) have now taken over. Lakewood is now in charge.

The head of gimmel Rav dov Landau wrote a letter against it. Others as well

R Landau is a known kanoi who also was sidelined by Gimmel until they had to make sure an American R Hirsh didn't take control.

Nunu, at the end of the day he's their leader.

What about Rav Olshin is he also a well known Peleg?

I wouldn't trust anything Reb chaim said five years ago (especially after watching the video). Nor would I trust anything rav shmuel is allegedly saying now.

It seems like many backtracked after R Dov came out against it

Ooops, something didn't work out.

One thing is clear, if they cannot immediately release a letter, there must be tension among them. Even if they eventually release a letter, all it will mean is that a compromise was reached.

Yes. My source is someone very close to the Agudah. I'm embarrassed this didn't happen. Let's see if it happens this week

I agree with slifkin that if you are anti-zionist you shouldn't be joining a zionist organization. See this https://www.rationalistjudaism.com/p/anti-zionism-with-integrity. One of his only sane posts in the past year and a half.

It's different with residents of Israel who vote in the Knesset, that's ΧžΧ¦Χ™Χœ מן הארי.

I think the main pushback to that is that everything is relative and we are more Zioinistic than the Reform "self-identifying" Jews on the top of the list.

The only true Zionists left are the righwing DLs, and they are desperate for Eretz Hakodesh to gain many delegates and counterbalance the Reform.

(Besides that I think it should be obvious to any rational forwardthinking person that the growth of the cahredi community is the real future of Israel and will thus be the culmination of Zionism.)

Just give us a simple line-up. What are the choices and what do they stand for in generally. Not that we (in EY) should be wasting our time because apparently we can’t vote anyway, but just, you know, for the sake of social, scientific, psychological, geological edification. Or because inside we really love gossip.

And mine about β€œIf I forget thee…” It’s just not fair. Plus, interestingly, your average Chareidi on the street has absolutely no idea what is going on. My neighbor’s friend from Lakewood called her and asked how she should vote. My neighbor gave her a decisive, β€œhuh?”
