I enjoyed the speech but find it meaningless at the end of the day. One point - He first says he doesn't like history because just because you know the banal origin of a tradition doesn't discount said tradition. Then he points to the origins of modern history (German scholars who are the "zeidies of nazis") as a way to discount the study of history. Seems contradictory.
Very interesting!
I can see why you like this. He sounds like an advertisement for postmodernism! But I enjoyed it and agree with many of his points.
Surprised that his Ramban bashing is ok with you.
Very disrespectful and irreverent towards the Ramban.
Disrespectful? Where?
He says "the Ramban was illiterate and didn't know how to express himself" עפר לפומי....

He directly addresses this point, at around 51:30.
